springboard diving for age 9
Question
QUESTION: I have a 9-tr. old grandson who has been jumping off the diving board for two summers now. He has no fear and will try anything. I am not a diver and would really like to get him involved with some lessons with someone who can instruct him on the finer points of diving. Would like to see if there is any potential here. If not it would be nice for him to at least be able to "show-off" for friends. Thanks, Edna Leimbach
ANSWER: Edna - I can only help you if you tell me where you or your grandson live so I can give you some advice on where to take him for lessons. Feel free to ask a follow up question with your city, state and zip code.

QUESTION: Sorry about that. I realized after I hit send that you had no idea where I was. Anything in the Frederick or Germantown, Maryland area. He lives in Frederick, I liove in Germantown. Thank you for hour time and help
Answer
Edna -
You happen to live in an area of the country that has the largest number of registered divers of all ages anywhere in the US.It is called the Potomac Valley Diving Association. There is one of the best programs in the US right where you live at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center, 18000 Central Park Circle, Boyds MD. The team there, Montgomery Dive Club, is run by my good friend John Wolsh. Tell him I sent you to see him about lessons and I am sure he will take care of your grandsons' diving needs.
This weekend on the 18th & 19th, this same pool is hosting a very important diving event for advanced divers. Some of the best divers in the US will be competing for a chance to go to next months USA National Diving Championships. I'll bet your grandson would love to see some great diving. Plus it is free to the public.

Good luck with his diving and try to go to the meet! I am sure you will enjoy it.
