Does the pool main drain-hydrostatic valve need to be connected skimmer box?

The main drain hydrostatic (anti-entrapment) valve does not need to be connected to the skimmer box drain; its purpose is different from that of the skimmer box drain. The main drain hydrostatic (anti-entrapment) valve is connected to the pool main drain(s), not the skimmer box.
