High School Diving
Question
How many dives do the kids need to perform in a WA state high school dual meet? (I'm thinking 6). Do all the (6) dives need to represent the 5 different dive categories?
Thanks-

For high school dual meets, varsity divers need to do 6 dives total but do not need to be able to do all 5 groups. Here is how it works:
Each week, there is a dive group of the week that must done as dive #1. I forwarded you this info earlier today. Dives 2 through 6 must cover 4 of the 5 groups of dives. Here is an example of the easiest list of dives to do each week without using the reverse group:
Front group week: front dive, front 1 somersault, back dive, inward dive, a dive from the twisting group, dive 6 can be any dive number not used in the first 5 dives.
Back group week: back dive, front dive, back somersault, inward dive, a dive from the twisting group, front somersault.
Inward group week: inward dive, front dive, back dive, inward somersault, a dive from the twisting group, front somersault.
Twist group week: a dive from the twisting group, front dive, back dive, inward dive, another dive from the twisting group, front somersault.
For reverse group week, if the girls cannot perform any dive from it, then have them dive JV. JV is any 3 dives they want to do and no team points are scored.I would suggest passing on this group this season if the girls are very afraid or do not possess the ability level to do this group safely.
