adult diving lessons
Question
Tom,
I'm a teacher living in Denton, TX and was wondering if you could recommend any adult diving lessons or classes offered in the summer?
Thanks very much,
Rachel
Answer
Rachel -
I looked up where you live on an Internet map service and saw that you live outside of Dallas. Lots of diving in that town. The place you want to look into is in the Grapevine-Colleyville area. Go to www.gcdivers.com. They use two pools in that area. The person you want to talk to there is Ida Wilson. She is a masters diver/coach. Masters is term for adult recreational competitive diving. You do not have to compete to be in the program. If there is anyone who knows more about adult diving, it is Ida. She is in her late 70's and still dives and competes!!
Also try www.mastersdiving.org. On the left hand side of the homepage, click on e-mail addresses. look for people who live in Dallas (I saw several) and ask them where they dive. You will want to learn this sport with other adults as opposed to little kids.I am sure you can find someone here who can send you in the right direction.
Also go to www.diving.about.com It is a site that explains the sport. Lots of good info here for people new to diving.
www.usadiving.org Click on Clubs and then Find A Club. Enter TX and a list of teams will come up.I saw one that operates out of SMU.
Good luck in your search.
P.S. - I re-sent this because the website at about.com was spelled wrong. Thanks for the nomination
