Diving Boards in North Carolina
Question
Hi, I am on a dive team in Florida and we are going to be on vacation in Virginia and North Carolina next week. I have a meet coming up and I was wondering if you knew of any public pools with diving boards in Southeast Virginia or Eastern North Carolina that I could practice on while I am on vacation.
Thank you!

Since I do not know what major cities you will be near, all I can do is guess as to which pools to go to.Your coaches may know of a club team near where you will be so I would ask them before you leave.
I do not know of any teams in eastern Carolina. Only ones around Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh and also one in Greensboro. In southeastern Virginia, the closest you will get to a good pool is by going to the Blacksburg area and Virginia Tech. They have a good pool on campus and will also be moving to a new pool in Christiansburg very soon. This pool will be the site of the US Diving Senior Zone 'A' meet on July 11-13.Go to www.usadiving.org, click on Clubs and then Find A Club. Enter NC or VA and a list of teams will come up.
I am sure you are familiar with the divemeets.com website. Go to this site and click on upcoming meets to find the info on the above mentioned zone meet. Also click on lists of divers, teams and coaches. Click on Teams and look at the list of teams under AAU and USA Diving that are under VA or NC and contact those programs to look for a place to practice. You can also Google Virginia Tech Athletic Department and look up how to contact Ron Piemonte, the head diving coach to see if you can practice with them. The website for the new pool is www.christiansburg.org/index.aspx?.
Good luck. I am sure you will find somewhere to practice.
