12 Year Old - Beginner Lessons

My son is very interested in diving and has taught himself how to do many dives.  We live in Asheville North Carolina and I would love to get him lessons.  Any suggestions?

In looking through my usual sources, I do not see any program that is near you in NC. There are very good diving programs in your state but they are in the Raleigh-Chapel Hill-Durham area as well as other cities not close to you.

I went to www.usadiving.org, clicked on Clubs and then Find A Club. I entered NC and a list of teams came up. Do they same and see which is closest.

Also try www.divemeets.com. Click on Lists of Divers, Teams and Coaches.At the next page, click on Teams and a huge list of teams will come up. Look for teams under AAU, NCAA and USA Diving. Scroll down to teams in NC and click on the teams name for their location.

I noticed that maybe you are closer to Knoxville than other NC teams. There is a great team at the University of Tennesse that has lessons for beginners. You will find their info using the same method as above.

I wish I had better news on finding a program close to you but you may have to drive a ways to find it.Try going to local high schools, colleges,city and county parks with diving pools and you may find a teacher there.
