Masters Diving
Question
I am an adult and just started taking spring board diving lessons in Los Angeles,
CA at a local pool but would like to do it more then once a week. One of the
answers on this site told a beginner to get involved with Masters Diving but
don't you need to be able to dive or have some experience at least before you
get involved with them? Do they have lessons? I am rather confused.

You would be surprised by open, accommodating and welcoming the Masters Diving community is in the area you live. Adult diving in LA is one of the largest in the US. They do not concern themselves with a new persons ability level. You could hook up with a masters program where all the divers as well as the coach will help you. Yes, having some experience helps and I would urge you to continue in the program you are in one day a week. In the meantime, I think you should look up some masters programs in LA and see what they have to offer. There is one in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center and also at U.S.C.
Go to www.mastersdiving.org and look up some other teams in So. Cal. Use the message board to ask questions about where to dive with adults. There is also an e-mail page you can go to and look up contact info of adult divers who live in LA. Send them some e-mails and get some feed back.
Also try www.usadiving.org. Click on Clubs and then Find A Club. Enter CA and a list of teams will come up. Contact the ones close to you and inquire about their masters programs.
Diving is very big and successful where you live and I am sure you will find what you are looking for. Good luck in your search.
