Springboard Diving: Breathing
Question
I use a four-step run and hurdle. I think I have read somewhere that you should pay attention to your breathing while you walk and do the hurdle. I wonder whether you have any ideas on this topic, for instance, "exhale before beginning the steps, inhale while you walk, exhale again at the last step and beginning of the hurdle."

I have never heard of this breathing technique before. Diving is a very misunderstood sport and there are a lot of misleading ideas/topics/coaching hints that confuse divers. The only thing I have my divers do before they do the front approach (especially if it is a difficult dive)is to take a long deep breath and exhale slowly before they take their first step. Then after that, do not think about any breathing coordination with their steps. Just breathe naturally without thinking about it. Just focus on the dive and what to do right.
Hope this helps.
