QuestionWould you direct me to a couple of manufacturers of the bubble surface that can be installed into an existing pool? Are you aware of any web sites that are trustworthy?
AnswerLisa -
The bubbler surface you refer to is known as an 'Air Sparging System'. There are not many manufacturers of these bubblers because the market is so small. I know of two companies that have websites you can check out. One is www.pressuresolutionsllc.com. They make one for existing pools. The other company specializes in bubblers for new pools but may be able to help you obtain components if you want to build your own. Go to www.pulsair.com. At their home page, click on Applications and then Dive Pool Bubbler.
Here are some other ways to find out more about Air Sparging Systems:
Ask Ron O'Brien, retired Olympic Coach, if he knows of other ways to obtain a bubbler. His e-mail address is
[email protected]. He is very knowledgeable about all things concerning diving.
Go to www.springboardsandmore.com and contact Steve Vollemecke, the owner. He has the largest retail internet site for diving equipment in the US. He may be of help to you.His e-mail is
springboardsandmore.cinci.rr.com
Try www.mastersdiving.org. They have a message board page that you can ask if a coach or diver knows of a company who makes parts for a bubbler. I think you will get a response from someone who has knowledge about bubblers. This group of adult divers use them all the time.
www.diving.about.com - This site has lots of info about all aspects of diving. Contact the owner, Woody Franklin and see if he knows of another company.
Finally, try contacting one of these diving teams that built their own. One is in Santa Clara, CA #www.santaclaradiving.com# and the other is found in Beaverton, OR, Coach Joe Lyons at #www.tualatinhillsdiveclub.com#.Ask their head coaches if they can give you any info on how to build your own.
If you do build your own system, make sure that the sparger #that is the piece that lays on the bottom of the pool and releases the air to the top#is heavy enough so it does not move when you use the bubbler. I know of accidents that have happened because the sparger was too light.
Good luck. Hope all this helps.
