Question
I am looking to replace the spargers in a dive well for my customer and there are two of them they measure 2' x 6' and have a bunch of tiny holes in them they are about 30 years old and need replaced badly we are replastering the pool and they want to replace them when we do this as they are currently plastered in place can you help find the replacements???
Answer
Rick -
I only know of two companies you can contact to see if they can help you:
www.pulsair.com/products/sparger/bubbler-system.php
http://pressuresolutionsllc.com/spargersystems.html
The Pulsair company will probably be the best one to order from as they do in-ground spargers and the Pressure Solutions company specializes in installing spargers without draining the pool.
If these companies cannot help you, ask a follow up question and I will see what I can come up with. The Sparger/Bubbler system was invented by a Canadian diving coach back in the 1970's. He is still around (in Edmonton I think)and maybe he can help you but I do not have his contact info.
Good luck.
P.S. - I thought of two newer facilities that just installed spargers. One is in Christiansburg, VA: http://www.christiansburg.org/index.aspx?NID=162 contact them to see who the contractor was to find out where they bought their spargers.
The other is at the University of Arizona in Tucson. They had a problem you will want to avoid. After installing the spargers and filling the pool, they did a test run of the unit and when all the air was released, the spargers blew off the bottom of the pool along with a whole lot of plaster! The contractor had to re-surface the entire pool! Very costly.Contact the Pool Director, Russ Bertram, to find out more info.
