QuestionWe are a small club based in Johannesburg, South Africa looking for a diving coach.
AnswerPeter -
Since you are not actually asking a question, I will assume that you want some suggestions on how to find a coach.
The first place to start is by going to the international governing body for all aquatics,
'FINA'. Go to www.fina.org, click on 'Structure' and then click on 'National Federations'. Now click on 'Africa' and look for 'RSA'. The head offices for your country is located in your city. Contact them and see if they can help you. While you are at the FINA website, you should also look up other English speaking countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain and advertise the position.
On FaceBook, which I assume you have access to, join these groups and announce the position:
Olympic Diving, USA Diving and Flip n Rip.
Finally, there are two college coaches here in the states that are from your part of the world who may know of someone interested in this job. Contact Dave Parrington, diving coach for the University of Tennessee:
[email protected]. Also try Jane Figueiredo, coach at the University of Houston, www.uhcougars.com. Click on 'Womens Swimming' and then 'Coaches' for her contact info.
Good luck. Hope all this helps.
