Take-Off
Question
Hello,,,
I'm 45yrs (male). I suddenly forget my four steps springboard takeoff. I don't know why but I can't set myself into takeoff at the end.
I start with the left leg first & resulting into right leg at the fourth step with my arms swing up with the spring, but I don't know were I go wrong.
Please help me if possible to get my four steps takeoff back
thanks,
Bhavin
Answer
Here is what I suggest you do to get your hurdle to land on the tip of the board:
1. Practice what is called a 'standing hurdle'. Stand about 2 feet from the tip, balance on your right leg with your left leg in the hurdle position. Your arms should be over your head the whole time and not doing an arm swing. Push off your right leg and practice hurdling to the tip and then perform a simple jump into the pool. Do not swing arms or try to do any type of dive. Only a jump.
2. When you able to do the standing hurdle to the tip on a regular basis, go to the one step hurdle. Stand a little farther back than the standing hurdle with your feet together and arms overhead. Step with your right leg and perform your hurdle with no arm swing and follow with a simple jump. Continue to practice a one step hurdle with no arm swing and jump until you hurdle to the tip all the time.
3. Next is to do a two step approach. Do all the actions mentioned in #2 only start with the left foot followed by right foot and then a hurdle with no arm swing and simple jump.Keep doing this until you reach the tip all the time.
4.Now go to your 4 step approach but still with arms over head, no arm circle and simple jump until you hurdle to the tip all the time.
5. Return to your full 4 step approach, hurdle with arm swing and simple jump. When you can do this to the tip all the time then try adding on dives that you know.
