diving coaching

My grandson, age 9, is interested in diving.  He has been on the sharks swimteam in sarasota, florida but has gymnastics talent and wants to dive.  I would like to find him a coach.  can you help.  Thanks

The closest cities to you that have what you are looking for is to drive 40 miles north to the St. Petersburg/Largo metro area. There are two programs there to check out: St.Pete Diving and the West Florida Lightning Aquatic club. You can find their contact info by going to
www.usadiving.org, click on 'Join USA Diving' and then 'Find A Club'. Enter FL and a list of teams will come up. I did not see any programs closer to you but here are some other websites to try:

www.aaudiving.org - They have a link to finding diving teams.

www.divemeets.com - Click on 'Find' and then 'Pools'.They list pools from all over the US that have held major meets.This means the pool will have a coach. Also click on 'Coaches' or 'Teams'.Under teams a huge list will come up. Scroll down looking in the third column where the states are listed and look for FL teams. Click on the teams name for more info.

www.swimmersguide.com - Navigate your way to find pools in your city or county and call them to see if they offer diving lessons.

www.diving.about.com - Site that explains the sport. Enter lessons in the search box and have him read about what to expect when he starts diving.
