Slalom skiing

Question
I attended a ski clinic where the instructor is teaching that as you round #1 buoy that you look at #2 buoy in front of the boat. Several skiers liked it alot. Have you heard of this and if so, after the boat passes the buoy do you still look at the buoy, or in front of, or to shore, or what??? Thanks.

Answer
Curtis,
I have heard of this and have seen it work well.  My theory on where you should look is not dependent on what you look at, but that you pick what works best for you.  I think the purpose of finding something to look at is to make sure that you keep your head up the whole time you are skiing.  Finding something to focus on prevents you from dropping your head which causes the rest of your body to go down as well.  Hope this helps.  April Coble Eller
