osteporosis
Question
Hi,my mother 57 and has osteoporosis. She walks on a daily basis. I am concerned because she walks 50 - 60 minutes daily. Is that to much? should she walk less?
Answer
50-60 minutes a day is not too much provided she has used caution in working up to that level. Exercise is always recommended for osteoporosis. Almost everyone can benefit from daily walking, and an hour is a reasonable goal.
Many people can't walk that long because they don't have time, not because it is too much exercise. People with little exercise background need to start slowly and build up their walking time gradually.
