walk
Question
hi i was wondering how long should i walk if i wanted to lose 30 pounds by june 27?
Answer
You have 9 weeks so I would not suggest you try to lose more than 14 lbs in that time. A safe, sustainable weight loss rate is no more than 1.5 lbs per week.
To do this, you need to create a calorie deficit of 750 per day. That would take 8 miles per day if you tried to do it all through walking. Instead, I would suggest you combine cutting calories with a steady escalation in your walking mileage from whatever you are doing now.
Add no more than 10% per week to your current walking mileage. For instance, if you have been walking 2 miles per day on average (ie., 14 per week), start adding 1.4 miles to your total each of the next 9 weeks. This way you can safely almost double your mileage in those 9 weeks.
I hope you were not expecting that there is some walking mileage that would make those 30 lbs disappear so quickly. You can lose that weight, just be safe and give yourself more time.
