Windsurfing early November - warm conditions?
Question
Hi there,
I would like to find a reasonably warm place (no need for wetsuit if possible!) with steady winds to practice winsurfing at intermediate level on the first week of November - do you have any advice on where to go, preferably Europe/MiddleEast/Africa but potentially US East Coast or islands in between? I am at a stage where I need to get comfortable using harness and practice turns, etc (no water start yet!)
Thank you in advance
Karine
Answer
Hi Karine,
For something closer to the eastern Atlantic the Canary Islands would probably be a good choice. Not sure what the water temps would be at that time. South Africa has some good sailing spots. With spring starting there at that time I'm not sure how warm the water would be either.
As for Western Atlantic/Caribean area, Margarita, Bonaire, Aruba are all good picks for Nov. For really good gear/instruction/lodging go to www.velawindsurf.com. They have great packages with excellent instruction and equipment. You can also get water/air temp averages for their locations.
Hope this will help. Have a great trip,
