RRD Spitfire 149
Question
Hi Windlover,
how do you think if RRD Spitfire 149 (Year 2005)is the good choice for the progressive rider, 77kg = 170lbs weight?
It is carbon board with quite small outlines 235x73cm regardless of it 149 l volume.
the sails spec is 7-9 sq.m.
usually we have light wind conditions 5-15 knots. + chop and waves up to 1 - 1.5 m sometimes. The 15-25 knots is not often but also want to enjoy those days.
Thanx /// GEN
Answer
Hi Gen,
This board should work well for you in the light wind conditions you describe. If you are looking for a board that will perform in the 15-25kt range, you probably want to go with something with around 90-115ltrs volume. If you are an intermediate rider advancing quickly, you should have no problems riding something this size. If you don't get these conditions very often, then you may not get to ride a smaller board that much. If you are looking for a board that will work in all the conditions you get 5-25kts, then look for a freeride design that is about 120-135ltrs. and has a sail range of about 5.0-8.0. You would then only need one board that will work well in light winds but still perform on the rare days of higher winds. Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
