Mistral Windsurfer Mastfoot
Question
Hello,
I've never windsurfed, but it looks like fun. I acquired an older Mistral windsurfer, but I believe I'm missing the piece called a mastfoot. At the bottom of the mast is a piece which accepts a bolt down the middle. I'm certain there is a pivoting piece that is bolted onto the mast here, & sets into the board. My board is a Kailua, and it's ~12.5 feet long. No doubt it is an older model. I'm a little nervous that the design has changed, and so I can't just order the latest version. Thoughts on identifying the exact piece I need, and then getting my hands on it?
Regards,
Randy
Answer
Hey Randy,
Welcome to windsurfing and the fun of finding parts for the older rigs. Being an old school sailor I have had to find parts myself. Here are the two best places I've found for those hard to find parts. The great thing is that you can still find parts and make the older rigs work.
This place carries a large amount of parts for older Mistrals.

The link is a list of all the Mistral parts they have in stock.
Another source is Big Winds in Hood River, Oregon. I was there recently and they have an amazing amount of older Mistral pieces/parts. You will probably have to call them direct to get what you need. www.bigwinds.com for info.
The pivoting piece you need is probably the rubber hourglass part that allows the mast to pivot. Either of the sources I've mentioned above should have what you need.
Best of luck with your searching. Hope this will help.
