equipe mast track
Question
I talked with Ocean Air about a problem with mast-track and base on my
newly aquired but old Mistral Equipe LCS-XR made in West Germany. The red
plastic piece below the rubber boge and the white plastic washer are both
cracked. It may hold but then maybe it will break someday...
Ocean Air does not list either the old mistral mast track or the red plastic
part in their website, however I have seen/googled "MISTRALUSA PARTS",
and there is a 25 inch mast track that may match my 25 mast track. It does
NOT look identical, but being 25 inches, by Mistral and says fits year 89 and
SOME later model comps, equips, etc....Is this the mast track for my board?
it is part #7101900301
Also looking for a centerboard slot cover that goes between the foot straps
over the centerboard slot.
Thanks,

Answer
Hey Mike,
If the mast track doesn't look the same, then it may or may not fit. Hard to say until you try it. If you think it might fit, ask if you can return the part if it doesn't fit. If they say OK, then you are only out some shipping costs if it doesn't work for you.
As for the centerboard slot cover, they varied with different years. Mine is a cloth type cover that is more of a protective cover than anything. My ('91)centerboard is carbon and about 2" sticks up through the board. Some are flush with the board and they just keep water from flowing up through onto the board. Also keeps your toes from going down into the daggerboard slot.
As for the red piece and the white plastic washer, try Big Winds in the Gorge (Hood River) bigwinds.com They have quite a variety of the older Mistral parts and may be able to fix you up. Send pics of what you are looking for so they can match them.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy your Equipe, I sure like mine.
Keep on sailing,
