Storage & Weed Fins
Question
I am a total beginner with a total of 3 outings under my belt with my own equipment. I now have a Fanatic beginner board and a Mistral standup paddle board.
I am just about done figuring out where to store my boards and I was wondering if there is a best way to do that so they don't warp. I really don't even know if they can warp at room temp (they will be stored inside my house). The SUP board is hanging on a wall supported at two points lengthwise. The beginner board is going to be hanging from the ceiling laying flat. Any problems with this? I do not have the option to stand them up anywhere.
Weed Fins - I have read that they should not stick out past the back of the board. Why? Safety? or a hydrodynamic problem?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
You can pretty much store a board any way you want. Just make sure the pressure points are padded. If it is stored flat horizontally make sure to pad the areas where the board rests on the supports. If it is stored vertically leaning against a wall make sure the tail or tip is well padded where it contacts the floor.
I have several weed fins that stick out past the back of my board and have had no problems with this. I have Tuttle boxes so I cannot move the fin forward or back so I just secure it to the board and go. If the fin were positioned any more forward on my board to keep the back of the fin from extending beyond the back of the board, I think it would be too far forward and would affect the downwind performance and stability.
