Answer
Hey Eoz,
This is tough question to answer specifically. There are various factors to consider when buying equipment.
1) Your level of sailing ability?
Beginner, intermediate, advanced
2) Predominate conditions you will be sailing?
Light to moderate winds, moderate to high winds, bay, lake, ocean, waves, chop, flat water, etc.
3) Transportation/ability to carry equipment?
Car, truck, van, suv.
If you are fairly new at sailing, an entry level rig would probably suit you well. But, you want to get something that you will grow into and still be satisfied sailing it as an advanced sailor. The Starboard GO series of boards fit this profile very well. The work well for beginners but also perform for advanced sailors. For your size, you would probably do well with something in the 150ltr range with a 4.0-5.0 sail for starters. You will probably want a larger sail for light winds as your abilities increase. These boards work well in light winds, chop, higher winds, and work well for open ocean, bay, or lake sailing. Not recommended for wave sailing. Going with something in the 150ltr range, the length, weight, and size make it a little easier to handle when trying to transport the rig to and from the water. Tossing a board into the back of a truck, van, or suv is easy but lifting it onto a rack on top of a car can be a bit more challenging. So, go to windsurfingmag.com and click on equipment. Check out the reviews on the Starboard GO and similar boards. You will also find links to the manufacturers websites for more detailed info on specific rigs. I hope this will help you get started. Please feel free to ask more specific questions as you get closer to a purchase.
Keep on sailing,
