board type
Question
I have not been on a board in almost 20 years. I had one of the original windsurfers when I was in my teens. I am 6'3 and 230lbs and in good shape. I'll be mostly on an inland lake when the wind kicks up and occasionally in the Atlantic off the coast of South Carolina. Do you have recomendations for board lengths, sail sizes, and weather or not to have a daggerboard. Thanks in advance. John L.
Answer
Are you looking for a total beginner board or something slightly more advanced? For a more advanced board I would look for something in the 140 to 150 liter range. You should be able to sail in 15 to 20 knots with 2 sails. A 6 meter for 15 and above and a 7.5 meter for 10 to 15 (non planing). If you are looking for a total beginner board then I would look for one with a daggerboard around 180 to 200 liters. Good luck and good wind.
