Mistral mast base

I have a Mistral Malibu that a friend gave to me a long time ago.  I brought it out cause my wife wants to get on it. The person that gave it to me had problems with the mast base.  The equipment is in good shape.  I used to have a Equipe and this mast base looks the same.  I tried putting the mast base in the mast track but it doesn't lock in.  This mast track has the black open and locking system.  My Equipe I just put the mast base in and turn it and it locked.  Any ideas?  I can take pictures and send them for you to look at.  Maybe its the wrong mast base?  It has the red bottom piece that you have to turn side ways to line up with the locking pins...but when you lock it down with the back lock it doesn't lock?  Any help will be appreciated...

Hey John,

I could probably make some sense of what you are saying but a picture would be the best for me to give you the most correct advice. Get a good picture of the base that you have and a good picture of the mast track on the Malibu. If things are as I think they are from your description, you may need to get a different base. But send the pics and then I can be more sure of what we are dealing with and advise you from there.
