Rigging the Sail
Question
I recently purchased a new Starboard GO 155 with 6.0 Maui Sails Switch sail here in Saudi Arabia. When I rigged it up the first time, there was considerable twist in the sail on the mast (making it difficult to connect the boom). The battens were fully backed off, though this did not help. I suspect I am doing something wrong. In addition, how much downhaul should be used to set the sail up properly (visual clues?). How much camber should be in the battens (again, visual clues?) to set up properly. Thanks, in advance.........
Answer
Hey John,
Go to www.mauisails.com and then Products, Sails, click on the model year and then Switch. When you get to the page describing the Switch, check the specifications to verify you have the proper length and stiffness mast recommended for your sail size. The look at the rigging video. It will show you just how to rig the sail and how it is supposed to look.
Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
