Windsurfing near Charlotte
Question
Hi, I am coming from England to spend a month in Charlotte in October and I am looking for some local windsurfing. I will need to hire all the kit including harness and wetsuit if necessary. Do you have any information that may help. Best regards, Tom Martin
Answer
Hey Tom,
There are a couple of lakes nearby that can have some good winds, especially in the fall when the cold fronts start coming in. Lake Norman is north and a little west, Lake Wylie is south and west and just a bit closer.

Not sure if this shop is still in business but give them a try;

If you get a chance to go over to Hatteras, it would be well worth the trip. Lots of shops and rentals for a weekend session.
Here is a local club that may be able to provide more information for you; http://www.ibscc.org/
Charlotte is a fun city and both of the lakes can have some good sailing. It's been over 20 years since I sailed that area but it was always good. I hope you enjoy your stay and find some good winds.
Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
