Windsurfer Freestyle WSF A484 mast clip
Question
I'm seeking the clip that attaches the mast universal joint pin to the board's mast base for the above-mentioned board. A friend used the board as a paddleboard and lost it!
I don't know if this board came with different mast attachments, but mine is an accordion rubber-covered joint with a waisted pin that was held with a c-type clip with a metal center and plastic lining. By any chance would I be able to find a clip somewhere? Or is my only option to have one made? I know it seems a lot of trouble for such an ancient board, but it's the board I grew up with!
Thanks in advance!
Answer
Hey Benjamin,
I'm fairly sure that you won't be able to buy an original clip but you should be able to find a replacement that would work. Try auto parts stores, specialty tool shops, or a place like Fastenal which carries specialty nuts, bolts, etc. If you have no luck, go to a local machine shop to see if something can be made or they may know of a resource for specialty clips. With some time and effort, you should be able to find something to get your rig back on the water.
Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
