Question
Alpha 295 Comptec
Hi I'm Lorenzo from Italy! I have been reading this site since I was 18 yo (now I'm 22). I'm a beginner in windsurfing, but I want to improve my skill!
I'm looking for my first windsurf board, and I found this one: Alpha comptec 295 cm 130 lt.
What do you think 'bout that? Is that good for me?
Thank you very much!
AnswerHey Lorenzo,
If you are still a beginner, you probably want a board with a daggerboard. The board you are looking at is a decent board for a first shortboard. You could probably rope start it and it would be good for learning waterstarts and jybes. But if you have not sailed a board without a daggerboard yet, you could be facing a huge challenge. Depending upon your sailing location, getting blown downwind could be just a walk of shame to get back to your starting point, but it could also be a hazardous situation. So think carefully about getting something that is too advanced. Also, it is an older board and I see that some of the footstraps are not there. If you decide on this board, be sure to verify that you can either get the other straps or be able to put aftermarket straps on. It will depend upon the type of screws that the inserts accept.
Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
