Help identifying old board - part II
Question
Hi Windlover,
As mentioned in my other post, a couple of days ago I acquired a couple of other old windsurfers with booms, masts and sails.
I'm splitting this question into segments so the replies don't get confusing.
This is part II.
Here are the photos of the other board:

I believe is a TIGA since that is the name on the torn decal and also on the dagger board well cover.
This is a LONG board for sure. It is 12' 8 1/2 inches long and 26 inches wide. I also note that there are no footstraps on it.
I don't have a dagger board or fin, but the fin appears to be a US box (my spare fin fits in it) and hopefully the dagger board from the HiFly will work.
I do have two different mast bases for it as you can see here:

http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/7227/p7030051.jpg
The first one is not too bad (although I think the Universal needs to be replaced).
The second one needs both the Universal and the part that goes into the mast extension.
However if you look at the photos from my other post about the BIC mast base (which I forgot to include in the post), you see:

http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/437/p7030049p.jpg
I might be able to use the part from the first photo along with a new Universal and have a usable base there (as a spare).
Of course at a worst case scenario, I am thinking that this larger board (with a lot more volume than my HiFly) should make a servicable SUP board after I put a fin on it.
There appear to be a couple of cracks along the edge of the board (in the seam) and one in the dagger board well. Would
There was one other odd thing. Can I either epoxy or seal those (and should I do that)?
Another other really odd thing:
One of the masts that came with these boards is shorter ( 8' 9 1/2" ) and looks like the trunk of a palm tree!
You can see it here:

What in the world is that all about?
Thanks as always for your help!
Charles
Answer
Hey Charles,
It is an old Tiga. US box fins will work. The first mast base with the longer black plastic part goes into either of the holes on the board. This is the ONLY base that will work with that board. Don't lose or break it as you will probably never be able to replace it. Your other daggerboard will probably NOT fit. Daggerboards were, (and still are), very board specific. If you didn't get a the specific daggerboard for that board, you are probably out of luck on getting/having a daggerboard for that board.
Yes, you should seal up any cracks on the board. Google 'Ding Stick'. It is an epoxy putty that is easy to work with, compatible with most board materials, and can be sanded smooth and painted.
That mast looks like someone glued some pieces together. Probably NO bend to it so sail shape will be minimal at best. I would probably only use that as a flag pole.
Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
