Where to go?
Question
Greetings,
I'm a 21 year old chap with a bunch of 5 other friends (ages 20 -22), we're all eager and surexcited to take a week off starting february3rd and ski somewhere in europe for a change (I live in Lebanon -country-, and we want to try new slopes). Our level is Advanced Intermediate to experts in alpine skiing.
Personnaly, I already went to chamonix thrice, st-moritz, verbier, Aosta and Megeve. So we were thinking about austria for a change.
We immediately thought about Innsbruck, but after reading numerous reviews, we got a bit freaked out because all of the reviews converged to the same thing:
- lovely city meant for people like us (no romance crap). Great!
- Posh. Good!
- Not so expensive. Woohoo!
BUT...
- Good snow is NOT guaranteed. Bad.
- Easy slopes mostly, nothing really challenging. Bad.
- Not the biggest ski resort, so we'll end up doing the same slopes over and over and over and ...
My question(s) is:
- Have u been there before (or know about it more specifically)? Are all the negative points real? Or do you think that there will be alot to see even for five days, good snow and interesting slopes for our level?
- Are the slopes suitable for Carving? We're interested in sharpening our carving techniques.
- Knowing what we're after (by now), which alternative resort would you recommend? I heard about Lech being a better place for skiing, but I got turned out by all the 'romantic' picture travel agents painted it with. Do you think that it's a good place for party animals like us? What about Kitzbuhel?
Thank you for your advice.
Answer
Hey Selim,
I have not had the pleasure of skiing in Europe yet. Someday maybe. For now, all I can do is route you to a website that has a lot of great information about any and all ski areas around the world. It may help your research on where to go.
