Ski Boot Repair / Parts
Question
Where can I find replacement parts for ski boots? I have a long-stored pair of (ladies) Salomon SX 82 ski boots...white with turquoise trim....size marked on back is 320...numbers on instep are 320-25. They look and feel to be in good shape except for one area. The turquoise rubber parts on the bottom toe/heel are disintegrating / crumbling. Actually, it is mainly the toe portion that's completely decayed. The toe piece is attached with 3 screws; the heel piece is attached with 2 screws. Both pieces have a round spot with "2" towards the outer portion and a round spot with "3" towards the inner portion. I figured I might as well replace toe and heel parts. After searching online through numerous sites, I have still found nothing to help me. Is there somewhere online that sells these parts? [I am in the USA.] Thanks for your help.
Answer
hi and thanks for the question.
It sounds like you need the toe piece for your boot. Dare say you should replace the heel piece too as the heights of them are important - these are the only bits that hold you onto the ski.
Have you tried your local ski shop? They may have a box of spare parts out the back that will suit what you are after - may not be in the same colour tho. I haven tcome across anything online, unless you can find a ski swap site?
These pieces are fairly universal in design as they are all designed to fit into any binding. I would think the only variance would be colour and shape where it attatches to your boot.
If you cant find anything at your local shops - you may be able to find somehting on eBay? Does that site have a wanted section?
Most people buy new boots these days rather than hold onto them and replace parts. If they have been stored for a while, put the boots on and walk around the house for about an hour - may as well makesure they are still comfy if you are going to this much trouble to fix them. Im thinking the liner could be breaking down, which will make them most uncomfortable for a day of skiing.
