Junior or Adult Skis?
Question
I have always rented my skis from the same shop in Austria and been given 140cm. I've skied on Elan, Salomon, Atomic and Volkl skis previously and all felt fine. I now want to buy a pair and am unsure if I have been skiing on junior or adult skis. The shop I rented from in Austria told me they were adult skis when I enquired, however, I have only been able to find 140cm adult Elan skis, so I am doubtful whether I have actually been skiing on adult skis. I am 152cm tall, weigh 55 kg, 30 years old and an intermediate/advanced skier. Would you recommend junior skis?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
ML
Answer
Marie-Lou,
You could get away with skiing junior skis but I would recommend that you find adult skis that fit your type of skiing. Junior skis are for smaller people and usually don't hold up as well as an adult ski as the manufacturers know that the kids will outgrow them. So, they don't have to build them to last like they would an adult ski. There are many women specific skis that would suit you better than junior skis. I would suggest that you go with an all mountain style ski as they are good for all terrain and conditions.
Hope this helps.
Keep on skiing,
