ski clubs in america

Hello! I am only 15 years old but I have skied for 12 years and because I have the fortune of living in Italy near the Alps i go skiing every week-end in a ski club and that is all my life is about ski ski ski! Unfortunately next year we are moving to Los Angeles due to my father's job and I am very very worried that I won't be able to continue doing skiing competitions. Can you please tell me how do ski clubs work in the USA and if there is any close place near Los Angeles??

Dear Chiara --

Although you will be further from the mountains in Los Angeles than you are in Italy, you will still be able to ski.

Mammoth Mountain is a big mountain ski area in the Sierra Nevada mountains.  It is a six hour drive from LA.  Many youth groups and family groups have ski clubs that will go by bus or van to Mammoth a couple weekends a month.

If you attend an American High School while you are in LA, you should be able to join a ski club there too.
