Wherel to ski?

Hey Windlover,
              I live in Birmingham, Alabama.  Where are two of the best skiing mountains somewhat nearby?  I am an intermediate skier and my 3 girls just learned to ski last year.  We just went to Gatlinburg, Tn.  We want to try some longer runs.  Pleas help.

Great to hear that you have gotten your girls into skiing. Teaching our youth the great sport of skiing is what keeps it going.

The places that have some longer runs, decent snow, and are about the closest to you are in Virginia and West Virginia. There are three in each state but Winterplace in VA and Snowshoe in WVA are probably the two best choices. Your best option would be to head for Colorado or New Mexico for the best in variety and conditions.

Here is a link that will show you all the ski resorts in the USA and beyond. Just click on Ski USA and then the state you want to check out. Once on a state, you can look at each resort and also get a link to that resorts website. A great site with all the ski info you could want.
