olin xts skis
Question
I am a novice skier. A friend gave me a pair of Olin XTS skis 175s. Could you tell me what year(s) these skis were produced? Is this ski model a entry level or better ski?
Answer
Hey Don,
I'm not sure of the exact year of this model but I'm fairly sure they were made in the early to mid '90's. They are an intermediate to advanced skier, all mountian ski. Should work ok for you as long as they are in decent condition.
Be aware that you should be able to get the edges sharpened and hot wax from your local ski shop but there is a good chance that they won't touch your bindings. There is a list of bindings that are covered by the manufacturer and if your bindings are not on the list, most shops won't work on them. If they do work on bindings that are not on the list, then they take the liability if something goes wrong with the binding.
If your binding is not on the list, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them, it just means that you are sole responsible party if something happens because of the binding failing to work properly.
Here is a link to the list; http://nssra.com/2001/nssra/index.asp
Hope this helps.
Keep on skiing,
