Junior Ski Limits
Question
QUESTION: Would GS junior race skis be suitable for a male age 70, 5'6", 125 lbs skiing NASTAR gold medal division? If so, could you rank three appropriate brands?
ANSWER: Hey Roger,
For your size, junior race skis should work just fine for you.
Any top brands will have quality race skis. K2, Solomon, Rossignol, Volkl, Head, Fischer, etc. Check out Ski and Skiing magazines online to find reviews on race skis.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION: Your answer was indeed helpful. If I could trouble you a bit further; would you care to suggest the limits for jr skis? That is, am I close to exceeding them, or do I have a good deal of room before their capability is exceeded? I think I ski relatively aggressively for my age and am within a second of NASTAR platinum. I'm hoping to reach it this year with the right pair of new skis. Thanks again.
Answer
Hey Roger,
Junior race skis are good for skiers up to 140 lbs. You probably won't be reaching that weight any time soon so jr. skis should work well for you. The key now is to find something that will work well with your abilities. You will want a ski that will be a bit advanced for you so that as your skills improve, the ski continues to work well for you. That being said, it is hard to pin down what will work best for you. I found a fairly decent review of some of the top jr race skis. Hope this will provide you with some good information.
