Ok, I have another question. :)
When a new speed club is getting started do people usually wear ever day clothes or do they wear the skin suits?

Hi Tiger......
What's your question, I might be able to answer you. If not we have a speed team at my rink and I can ask the coaches for you.
Thanks
Pat

Hi Tiger,
There really is no difference. Speed teams have both quad and inline skaters yet they only have 1 or sometimes 2 coaches. The principals or techniques of speed skating are the same for both quads and inlines.
The only difference might be that you have to watch the inline skaters a little more closely to make sure they are straight up on the wheels avoiding the ankles from turning in when they skate. Other than that....the basic skills and drill work are all the same.
I hope that helps you with your question. If I can help any further, please feel free to write me again.

Answer
Hi,
When starting out you can wear anything you like. The coach will probably recommend something snug fitting like spandex pants etc. You dont want loose fitting clothes because they get in the way and the put a drag on your speed.
If you haven't started yet.....just wear something comfortable and the coach will tell you what you can wear and what you can't wear. When you're ready for competition, he will guide you on clothing for that too.
So, get out there, have fun and don't worry about clothing for now. They are all more than willing to help you with whatever you need.
If you can, go watch a practice session and see what the others are wearing but don't feel you need to go shopping before you even start or go for try outs. It's not necessary.
Good Luck........I'm always around if you have any other questions.
