rollerblades and the wheels..
Question
When I am looking at roller blades to buy some skates say 80mm/84mm. Does that mean that the wheel size is all 80mm or possibly 84mm. Or it is a combo of both. How can I be sure before I buy the skates.
Answer
Hi Pam,
Yes, when you see 'mm' that means the size of the wheel. I've never seen 2 different sizes listed on one pair of skates unless there are 2 different size wheels on them.
Usually when you see 2 numbers on the wheel one is the size of the wheel and one is the hardness of the wheel. Example: 80mm is the size and 84A is the hardness of the wheel.
If in doubt ask the sales person questions. The lower the 'mm' number the smaller the wheel. The lower the 'A' number the softer the wheel.
Remember the larger the wheel the more roll you will get for your effort but the softer the wheel, the harder you will have to push.
Good Luck, I hope you find the perfect pair of skates
