Quadline skates
Question
I have a cheap pair of roller derby skates that are very comfortable but unfortunately I want to use them outdoors on a bike path but because of pebles this is impossible. Can you recommend a pair of quadline skates that will be soft like the roller derby leather skates I have?
Answer
James....
You can buy outdoor wheels for your roller derby skates. They are a soft wheel so the pebbles won't trip you. Again, most roller rinks have the catalogs where you can see pictures and prices. The sales person can also recommend which ones would works best for your needs. He would also be able to tell you if the outdoor wheels will fit the axles on your roller derby skates.
As far as a soft comfortable pair of quadline skates....I would recommend a boot that is leather verses a vinyl boot. The leather softens and conforms to your foot where the vinyl does not and in time will tend to harden and possibly crack. There are many styles of boots, the taller boot or the shorter boot which is more like a speed/jam skate. So it just depends on what you like. If you plan on skating on a regular basis, the leather boots are a little more expensive but worth it in the long run. There are all price ranges so I'm sure you would find a good skate within your price range.
Because there are so many different priced skates, it's would be impossible to recommend one particular one, not knowing how much you want to spend. Let the sales person at the rink tell you about the different styles, then you can make your choice wisely.
But do ask him about the outdoor wheels first. You just might be able to use the skates you already have.
Take care and have fun
