Marathon skates

Question
Hi,

I want to try a marathon and right now I have K2 Exos with 8o wheels. I want to try upgrading my skates and am thinking about 90's. Would that be ok to skate in a marathon? I still want everyday versatile skates and think that 100's would not be maneuverable enough.
What do you think?

Answer
Hi Randy,
I think it's a personal choice but remember the larger the wheel the further you roll using less effort.  Our speed team skaters skate on 110's because, of course, every second counts for them.

Upgrade to whatever size wheel you think you can adjust to easily and make sure whatever size wheel you get will fit your frame.

Marathons are for time and distance, not necessarily for maneuverability, so any size wheel larger than what you already have would be to your advantage.

Also, if you're really considering a marathon I hope you're training properly.  It's not something that you can just jump into because you skate often......there's a lot more to it than that so do your research to make sure you are both mentally and physically prepared to do your best.

Good Luck
Pat
