Question
Hi
Can you tell me if a wheel with an APEC 5 bearing can be used and fit a ILQ 9 bearing? I have been using a K2 Mod 8 skate for years and do 17 miles a day in about 90 minutes. I have been looking at the K2 Moto 100 but have worries about the above bearing question. I replace the wheels frequently from all the miles and want too get the skate that is best economically regarding that.
All the Moto 100 has mixed 90mm and 100mm wheels. Can they be replaced w/ a 76mm to 80mm all the way around? Thanks and sorry for any confusion.

Answer
Hi Bob,
Bearings are bearings. The outside diameter is always the same, it's the inside whole that the pin/axle goes through that you have to watch. Just make sure it matches what you already are using. Bearings come in 7mm & 8mm. Other than that, you can use any bearing you like.
As for wheels? I don't see why you couldn't switch to a smaller wheel. Going bigger is usually a problem but going smaller, I would think would be fine. For efficiency sake, I would think you would want a larger wheel. The smaller the wheel, the more effort you have to use.
If in doubt, stop at your local roller rink for advice. They can help you with your questions. A lot of rinks also have speed teams who could give you some very good advice about the good and bads to various wheels.
I hope this helped you a little bit. Good Luck
