Concrete Roller Skating Floor
Question
I live in West Africa and we want to construct a concrete/Terrazzo skating floor. The people here are small stature and we only have a 100 ft by 100 ft piece of land and want the skating floor to be 80 ft. by 60 ft so we can have room for concessions, parking and a Video Game room. WILL THIS BE SUFFICIENT AND WHAT SHOULD THE FLOOR THICKNESS BE?
Answer
Hi Brenda,
If you would like a lot of people skating at your rink, this will be very tight to try to include the skating surface plus concession, plus parking and video game room.
The average size skating surface alone here in the US is 175' x 75 or 180' x 80'. And that does not include concessions, parking etc.
If you only have 100ft x 100ft of land and your skating surface takes up 80' x 60' that only leaves you 20ft on one end of the skating surface and 40 ft on the other side. The parking lot would take up the most space. I would imagine that there are laws that don't allow you to build anything within so many feet of your property line also, which would take away even more of the building area on your property.
You may want to re-think building a roller rink with the space being so limited unless you want everything to be very small and tight.

Good Luck, I hope things work out for you.
