QuestionWhat's up Danny?
Okay, I have a few questions referring to ramps, tricks, and ollieing. About the ramps, I'm scared to go down them. I'll go to a skatepark with my bud Robert, and he just flies down the biggest ramps there, while I can't even go down the little funbox ones. He's only 8, so it's wicked embarrasing. He doesn't make it much better, either. I go to the 'park often, and I still can't go down the tiniest ramp... I try so hard to just do it, but I just can't do it. I'm not new to skatin', and I just don't understand why I can't accomplish my goal. Are there any ways to ease the fear? Thanks for whatever you give me back, man!
Now, about tricks, I just have a couple queries. I got the ollie down, and I can manual good. I almost have the kickflip, but it's frustrating me! I can NEVER nail 'em! One problem I have is that I hit the ground before the board does. Second, sometimes I land halfway or in Primo position (which isn't so pleasant when unexpected). I put as much pop in the ollie as possible, and fiercly kick the board. Sometimes I just land with one foot (if I'm lucky, heh). I've been trying for like, a month. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just not trying hard enough (need to practice more?)? And when I try to FS Shove It and Pop Shove It, I can't seem to control the board. It flies away or spins too much/too less. Most the time I only land with one foot. Another trick I'm bailin' on is the 180 Ollie. I get a nice pop and turn, but I land at 90 degrees, or if I make it I crash or fall. Please tell me what I'm doin' wrong? Thanx!
Last question (thank god, right? heh). Ollieing while moving...eep! Are there any tips or something? I ollie excellently wen I'm stationary, but I can't ollie over stuff, or onto stuff, or onto rails, or off of stuff. Any tips?
Any help is appreciated, dude!

AnswerHey Sarah! Well, I can help you with the ramps a little, but I don't skate vert too much. It;s a lot of fun when you learn to go to ramps. I totally understand your fear. Although I can go down ramps really easily, they are still scary. The trick is when you go down, you need to sorta bend your knees. And squat(if you know what I mean), it's a lot easier that way. When dropping into or off the ramp, you need to sorta push down with all of your strength in your front foot so you dont manual and fall. Now, the kickflip, the good old kickflip. I helped my friend with this once, and he got it right off the bat after i helped him, so I hope Ican do the same to you! Lets get started. If you land one foot, you need to jump higher. But you need to keep the board under neither you. Try putting your foot further back to spin it faster. Then just slide your front foot up and of the side where the front bolts are. Make sure you don't turn your body though. And I know what it feels like to land in primo... Used to happen to me with my heelflips. The Shuv-it is hard to learn at first, but a little easier then the kickflip. You need to jump with the board. And try not to make it spin too much or not enough. You need to stop it from spinning any more by landing on it. Frontside shuv-it, thats hard to learn, took me about a year, lol. I'm sure you can do it if you try though Sarah. The 180 now. Its really hard to explain this one. The trick I use though, is I POP back harder. It works really well. You then need to turn your body and bring the board with you. I can't explain it right now, (It's 1:30 in the morning, lol.) Ive been waiting to answer this. To olly while moving, try to ollie while going slow at first, then you need to gradually keep working up to fast.(Example: You start by moving a little bit and ollying until you get that down. Then you try by going a little bit faster, etc.)And try to put your foot right before the front bolts, its easier to keep your balance then. If you need to get onto a rail, you should be able to olly a little bit higher then the rail at least. Try to go directly beside and and do a 90 degree turn and dont lean back when your on the rail or you will most likely fally with your back on the rail, and thats not good, heh. And when ollying onto stuff, you need speed. I still have trouble with this because i sometimes cant olly as high as I can flatground as I can onto stuff.
Anywayz Sarah, if you need anymore help, I'd be very glad to help you, just ask me more questions. You dont need to go to ALLexperts either, just email me at
