Want to learn

I'd like to learn how to fire a gun, and to do it well.  Could you give me any advice on how to get started?  I don't own a gun or know anyone who does.  I've just always thought it sounded like a fun thing to learn...

Safety is very important. Your best bet is to find a firing range in the yellow pages. Call and ask them if they have an NRA instructor and if they rent guns. Then you can rent several types of guns to find the type and caliber you prefer to use. You can also join the NRA and a local gun club. In a gun club, you meet people who specialize in all types of shooting. You can join in competitions and also learn about hunting, if that interests you. I find that hunting and competition both make shooting a lot more interesting.
