Rifle rests
Question
Hi Rod: Sent this question previously but something got mucked up in the system so I am re-submitting it. What do you think of mechanical shooting rests like those offered by Sinclair Int'l and also the 'full framed' rests like Target Shooting Inc. or models from Cabelas ? Right now I'm using Caldwell front and rear bags which work fairly good. Thanks for your input..........Glenn
Answer
Glenn,
My apologies for the delay. I've had some personal issues to deal with. But I'm back :)
I can only tell you about the Sinclair rest, I'm afraid. I love it. It's heavy, it's stable, it's easy to use and adjust and it'll allow you to shoot to the capabilities of your equipment. I know you've heard this before, but "most rifles will shoot better than the shooter is capable of shooting". A good rest skews that and will allow you to outshoot the rifle, assuming you can read the wind and know your loads. In my opinion the Sinclair rest accomplishes that. It's pricey, as you've no doubt noted but I feel it's worth it. If you order one, make sure you talk to the sales person to ensure that you get the proper front bag. There's one for bench forearms and one for varmint and they are not interchangable. Hope that helps and hope you are well. -Rod-
