measuring ammo caliber
Question
How is bullet caliber measured; and what are the requirements for a concealed carry permit. Thanks.
Answer
Bullet caliber is the diameter of the bullet (the projectile). HOWEVER, when naming the cartridge, that just seems to be a guideline. People often design a new bullet and cartridge and then think of a good-sounding name that may not be exactly equal to the diameter. For example the ".38 special" bullet has a dimameter of .357" to .358". While the .357 magnum bullet also has that same diameter.
Concealed carry permit requirements vary bystate. In NC, you have to have no felony record, no record of mental incapacity, pass a concealed carry class, get fingerprints, and pay a fee.
Hope this helps!
