glass bedding of barrel on hunting rifle

yes, have bench rested with 5 shot groups at 60m, the best are at 2 inch groups.  with this rifle I would expect to be able to put them all in an area at least half that!

Question -
Paul, I have a .270 Brno hunting rifle, it has a free floating barrel.  I am having trouble grouping my shots tightly, I am considering glass bedding the barrel.  Do you think this is a good idea?  Some of my hunting mates reckon it is, some seem to think that moisture might get into the woodwork and expand it thus pushing the bedding and the barrel upward?

Bedding won't allow expansions expand in that manor to push barrel up.
Have you bench rest fired the rifle??
How big was the group??

Bedding the action may reduce that a little.
What type of ammo are you using?
Have you tried few hand loads and high end commercial stuff?
