Military surplus firearms

Hello ! Paul,
I have an old world war 1 issue German Mauser that I shoot ocassionally for fun.
I have now become interested in purchasing other older model military rifles. Such as the British Enfield, M1 carbine, Garand etc. Safety is more important than accuracy since this is just a hobby.
My question:
I live in the area of Phoenix / Glendale Arizona.
I have not visited a gun shop in many years and do not have the time to visit all that are listed in the Phone book. I am not even sure of which ones would specialize in Military surplus firearms.
Can you suggest a way to narrow my search ?
Is there a web site avaliable that list these types of firearm specialty gun shops located in Arizona ?

I am very impressed with your credentials and hope you can help narrow my search.

I do not have alot of particular knowledge and I do not have alot of money to spend.

sorry for the somewhat slow responce; I was ill.
You can search the net for what you looking on guns America or other silmilar sites. You can purchase from anywhere in the USA but it most be shipped to another dealer in your state.

I terms of the USA service rifles I would recommend you get a book about the M1 carbine.  There were many different variation and contractors.  Those made Rock-o-la are the most expensive.

The M1 Garand can be purchased from US government directly if follow thier criteria. Basically you need to be a member of the NRA/CMP affiliated gun club and fire 80
rounds in matches.

Both US rifles have become very expensive lately.
$500 to 2000 range.

Beware of rewelds guns that were cut in two the welded back togeather. Again read up on there rifles.

Military Mausers of all types are cheap and plentiful.
Under $200 and some under $100.
If you want to shoot them I would go with WWII vintage rather WWI era rifles. Again first stop is picking up a book on Military Mausers. They were made and used all over the world.

The British SMLE are plentifull with newer ones that fire
.308 Win the most expensive in the $300 to 400 range.
Older ones in .303 are $150 to 250 range. Again there were many variation get a book on collecting them.

Russian Moslin Nagant are cheap and plentiful and under $100

As far as you local dealers look at thier yellow page ads
or call them.  You can also enter ther names in google and see if they have a website.
