airsoft questions
Question
My son really wants an airsoft gun. All his friends have them, and he is becoming more in love with the game every day. I am afraid though, that an airsoft gun will hurt him, or will hit him in the eye. He does say that if I ever catch with his eye protection off, or any of his friends, that I can take away it for ever. I am afraid that it will hurt the enviorment. Are they really biodegradable? I also don't like the fact of my child having a gun. I am afraid that it will teach him bad things. I know he will never do anything bad thouh. It is just so hard to keep saying no to him because, he looks it up for hours a day, he looks up safety issues for us, and he has been going at it for almost a year now. I just want to know if it is okay for us to get him an airsoft gun and a target just for him to try, and for us to see how it really works.
Answer
Hi,

In order to play the game you need heavy clothes and
eye protection. Airsoft is a game similar to paint ball.

The next question is how responcable is he?
How old is he?
Is there a Airsoft Club in the area?
>I am afraid that it will hurt the enviorment. 燗re they really biodegradable? ?br>
Yes they are.

Many boys age 13 or above take part in hunting or target
shooting with real firearms, all over the nation.

Its even supported by the US government.

The game Airsoft teaches military or police tactics.
Use of Airsoft guns for target shooting teaches basic marksmanship.

Just make sure you supervise him and that he learns and follows the safety proceedures.
Does he want to play the game airsoft or use an airsoft gun for target shooting?
Here is more on the game

Here is another option you may not have considered.
If he only wants to shoot targets, you could enroll
him in NRA Junior Membership.

Find a local club

or a CMP Club

that offers Air Rifle competition.

Many times local clubs will have a club guns to lend
to new members. You and your son can learn how to safely take part in the sport.
Once your sure he handle it in a responciable manor,
then buy him one of his own.
The 4-H Club and Boy Scouts also offer similar programs.
