INTERARMS/MARK X 30-06 Rifle

I feel like a complete idiot.  I just spent 1 1/2 years in Fallujah dealing with the military issue 30-06 as my primary weapons system, but now that I have purchased a civilian version of the 30-06, I have no idea how to completely dissasemble the weapon.  Specifically, I cannot remove the bolt-carrier group.  I know that I am missing something very simplistic, but I still can't figure it out.  The manufacturer is listed in the subject.  Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dave,

Let me start by personally thanking you for your service to our county !

Your Interarms Mark X is basically a Mauser 98 action. As such, the mechanism (bolt stop/ejector assembly) is located on the left side of the action almost directly above the front of the trigger guard.

If you operate the bolt to its most open/rearward position, it will stop against the bolt stop. At this point it should merely be a matter of levering the bolt stop spring by the above described mechanism. Make sure that you hang on to the bolt since most often this is all that is needed to release it from the action.

Follow reverse procedure to reinstall bolt.

Additional info: I do not recommend attempting to disassemble the bolt itself. This can be a somewhat tricky procedure and often a special tool is required.

Enjoy your Mark X, I think they are a great rifle/action especially for the money. Many custom rifles have been built on the Mark X action over the years.
